Veterans and veterans family (Veteran defines family and does not require family members to be related by blood or marriage)
Must have 24 hours of active duty (includes individuals that have been or are currently enrolled in the National Guard/Reserves)
Must be homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Must be able to show - DD214 or VA Benefits card and a Government issued photo identification.
Volunteers of America Michigan provides help for the homeless, food for the hungry, employment and shelter for veterans, housing for poor seniors, and a helping hand for struggling families.
Employment Preparation and Career Counseling for Veterans who are Homeless/at Risk of Homelessness:
Provides a program that reaches out to veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and assists them in finding gainful employment. Services include career guidance, job search assistance, resume building skills, interview training, and customized employment, which is a way of individualizing the employment relation between employees and employers to meets the needs of both. Once a veteran is enrolled in the program, there may be limited access to additional supportive services such as work-related transportation. Provides a comprehensive employment and training program with wrap-around supportive services designed to address employment barriers by establishing a coordinated case management system with a strong aftercare component. A continuum of supportive services will be provided and coordinated, giving homeless veterans the ability to participate in job skills training programs while meeting their basic needs. Call to be screened and scheduled for enrollment.
