Family must include someone who served in the military with 24 hours active duty post training (Veteran defines family and does not require family members to be related by blood or marriage). Household family income cannot exceed 50% average median income for the county where they are currently staying. Must be homeless or at risk of being homeless. At risk is defined as being within 21 days of eviction.


Volunteers of America Michigan provides help for the homeless, food for the hungry, employment and shelter for veterans, housing for poor seniors, and a helping hand for struggling families.

Homeless Financial Assistance Programs for Veterans

Provides short term intervention to provide direct support services, including rent payment assistance, utility payment assistance, legal assistance, child care cost, moving expenses, transportation, emergency supplies, and security deposits.
