Franklin-Wright Settlements, Inc.(FWS) is a leading Detroit neighborhood human service organization, existing to assist individuals, families, groups and the community with basic life, family and social needs. We focus on the prevention, treatment, and amelioration of social problems, through advocacy, programs, projects, activities, services and facilities.
Emergency Food Assistance:
There is a food pantry every Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only. There are no restrictions and you can access the pantry once a month. FWS staff assists in completing applications for programs such as: WIC, MiBridges and MiCafe. Individuals and families may receive food vouchers, Bridge Cards, pantry packs as well as hot, nutritious meals.
Summer Enrichment Program
Summer Enrichment Program is a 9 -12 week initiative held during summer vacation on FWS’s main campus. The program is designed to nurture youth utilizing comprehensive strategies to help strengthen literacy, math skills, cultural enrichment and violence prevention with weekly field trips.
Recreation program provides countless hours of recreation and fitness to youth and adults alike with ongoing collaboration. Franklin – Wright partners with various entities to independently and collectively provide daily expanded-day and after-school programs that incorporate physical activity.
Early Start Program:
Early Start Program is a specialized day care service which supports infants, toddlers and families to ensure children are prepared to excel academically when they enter kindergarten. Services include enriched child care, daily drop-in, respite, before & after care, early childhood intervention and parenting support programs. After-School Enrichment Program
After-School Enrichment Program is a 10 month initiative geared towards youth between the ages 6 -12 years old who attend schools in the FWS catchment area. Students have the ability to attend the free program from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday during the academic calendar.
Clinical Services - Counseling and Prevention Services:
Counseling and Prevention Services provide clinical interventions to children and families through frequent one-on-one contact, counseling clients on sustainable income choices, healthy attitudes, positive peer relationships and acceptable social skills.
