Child’s Hope is a central voice for the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Wayne County.
Child Abuse Prevention: Provides classes at local schools and churches for parents and children focusing on the prevention of child abuse and neglect through a variety of classes and programs.
Healthy Living: Family fun nights and knowledge development. Materials distribution around healthy eating, and activity with the overall goal of reducing childhood obesity
Diaper Drive: In collaboration with Great Start Wayne County, this program collects diapers for families in need. Advertisement of the program and collection of diapers at selected community sites and workplaces is provided by Child's Hope.
Team Zero Education: Presenters go out to schools to facilitate this sexual abuse prevention workshop that combines song, dance, and a story to teach 3-5 year old children about inappropriate touching. The children learn that they have the right not to be inappropriately touched and the importance of telling a trusted adult. Contact us for more information, or to schedule a training.
Read to Me: Preschool and kindergarten children who are at risk are provided literacy opportunities through weekly tutoring by university student mentors. Children, individually or in small groups, are involved in planned literacy lessons once or twice a week in their classrooms. Fun and educational family events are offered to extend the literacy experience to parents and children.
Mandated Reporter Training: This program teaches professionals and frontline childcare providers about Michigan's Child Protection Law. The workshop discusses professional responsibilities to report suspected abuse and/or neglect, how to properly report, and how the child welfare system works. Contact us for more information or to schedule a training.
