Eligibility: Soup Kitchen is for anyone in need. Food Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul Emergency Service is for persons living in Detroit Zip Codes 48219 (South of 7 Mile and West of Outer Drive) and 48223. MUST provide proof of residency with current Michigan ID, DTE bill or copy of rent/lease agreement.

Description: St. Christine's Soup Kitchen provides hot, nutritious meals on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Annually that amounts to an average of 22,000 meals for children, women and men served from the Fenkell site.

St. Christine's Food Pantry supplies weekly supplemental grocery bags on Tuesdays. Annually, about 6000 supplemental bags of groceries are distributed.

Volunteers from Christ the King Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, are available to assess urgent needs for clothing, furniture, appliances, bedding, etc. They also assist with applications for utility assistance when funding is available and make referrals to agencies for rent subsidies. Through designated funds, volunteers can provide D-DOT bus tickets for important appointments.


Soup Kitchen serving times:

  • Tuesdays, from Labor Day to June 15th: 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
  • Tuesdays, from June 15th to August 15th: 12 noon to 3:00pm.
  • Saturdays, 12 noon to 3:00pm, year round.

Food Pantry Hours:

  • Tuesdays, Labor Day to June 15th: 1:30 to 4:30pm.
  • Tuesdays, June 15th to August 15th: 12:30 to 3:30pm.

St. Vincent de Paul Emergency Assistance Appointment Times:

  • Monday and Wednesday, 1:30 to 3:30pm.
  • Thursday, 10:00am to 12 noon.

Helpful Tips: In addition to the Soup Kitchen/Pantry, a Service Center Building offers neighbors daily opportunity for socialization over coffee and pastries, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Friday.
