A Guide for Early Care & Education Opportunities

Great Start Collaborative's Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne are partnering to provide a comprehensive strategy for those interested in pursuing careers in the early care and education field in Southeast Michigan.
Broadly defined, early care and education focuses on the experiences of children ages birth through 8 years of age which strengthens their growth and development. Those experiences happen with parents in their family, with their primary caregiver in family day care homes, with their teachers in child care centers, preschools, and in public and private K-12 schools. S.T.E.P.S. represents a framework for professional development.
This tool seeks to guide professionals toward what basic qualifications are expected for each of the positions listed and the educational alternatives to achieve optimal readiness for these career opportunities.
