Are you a program that serves 2-5 year old children in the Downriver area?

Through the generous support of the Colina Family Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan is expanding its program offerings in Lincoln Park, Melvindale, River Rouge, and Taylor. The program is seeking engagement from day care centers, preschools, child care providers, libraries, and other locations that serve children aged 2-5. All training, materials, and technical assistance will be provided to partnering sites at no charge.

Parent Coalition Helping One Another

The Great Start Wayne County Parent Coalition is a group that focuses on positive parenting and supporting their children from the very beginning. Even before birth. They were originally conceived through the Great Start Collaborative of Wayne County, but now work in partnership with the collaborative supporting many of the same issues surrounding early childhood.

"Basic Needs and Learning Resources to Help Your Family".

In an effort to strengthen the quality of services to families with young children, the Great Start Collaborative-Wayne (GSC-W) developed an assessment for family/community resource centers. During 2011, ten centers were assessed and rated as either a participant center working on an improvement plan or an endorsed Great Start Center meeting the established quality criteria.

Social-Emotional Health Action Team Blog

The Social-Emotional Health Action Team focuses on developmental and mental health services designed to promote the social-emotional well-being of all young children and address the needs of children at-risk of developing mental health problems. This action team has created the Home Visitor Alliance group which meets on a quarterly basis for training, networking and support for professionals.

Parenting Leadership

Parenting leadership supports parents in the critical role they play in their children’s overall development, and for the healthy development of children that address the stressors impairing the ability of families to nurture the well-being, safety and overall development of their children.

Physical Healthcare Action Team

Physical Healthcare focuses on the need for comprehensive physical health and child development services – including screening , assessment, intervention, as well as timely and appropriate referral for specialized developmental, behavioral and psychosocial assessment and intervention.
